About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Lihue, Duke's Kauai is much more than just a restaurant — it’s a celebration of Hawaiian spirit infused with American culinary flair. Specializing in a vibrant mix of Hawaiian, American, seafood, and steakhouse delights, Duke’s offers an unforgettable dining experience that perfectly captures the essence of island life.

From the moment you step inside, the relaxing ocean views immediately set the tone for a truly immersive meal. Imagine savoring the tender, golden Coconut Shrimp, their crisp coating perfectly balanced by a subtle tropical sweetness, or delighting in the tender Furikake Ahi Steak, rich with umami and kissed by the flavors of the Pacific. The Polynesian-inspired Coconut Ginger Braised Seafood captures the sea’s bounty with a fragrant, comforting warmth, while the Cajun Fish Tacos offer a spicy, smoky kick, accentuated with creamy wasabi aioli and fresh avocado. For those craving land flavors, Duke’s Filet Mignon and the extraordinary Greater Omaha’s Angus Prime Rib stand out as hearty, melt-in-your-mouth indulgences.

The pūpū selections, such as the Panko Crusted Calamari served with a guava cocktail sauce and Meyer lemon remoulade, or the Korean Sticky Ribs glazed with spicy gochujang and fresh herbs, tease the palate and prepare you for the feast ahead. Don’t miss the Ahi Poke Bowl or Poke Tacos, showcasing fresh, vibrant flavors that are a testament to Kauai’s deep-rooted seafood culture.

Duke’s isn’t just about incredible food; the atmosphere elevates every visit. Whether seated indoors or enjoying the breezy outdoor tables, the vibe is lively yet laid-back, filled with the joyous hum of locals and visitors alike. Guests have often remarked on the beautiful ocean views, perfect for watching surfers or catching the sunset rays as a cruise ship glides by. The live music adds an authentic island rhythm to your dining experience, making every meal feel like a celebration.

Service here is consistently highlighted by patrons as attentive and warm. Waitstaff, like the praised server Keenan, provide a seamless balance of friendliness and professionalism, ensuring every detail is attended to without ever feeling intrusive. The inclusion of free valet parking is a thoughtful touch that adds ease to the entire outing.

Beverage offerings include an impressive selection of local brews on tap, featuring favorites like Duke’s Blonde and Kona’s signature beers, perfectly suited to accompany any plate from the menu. For something more tropical, the famous Duke’s Mai Tai or the creamy Lava Flow cocktail make for refreshing tropical sips that transport you to paradise with every glass.

Whether it’s a relaxing Sunday brunch with flawlessly runny yolks and perfectly cooked fried rice or a memorable dinner featuring the prime rib carved to perfection, Duke’s Kauai creates moments that linger long after your plate is cleared. It’s a place where the ocean’s calm meets bold island flavors, inviting you to indulge in both. If you’re craving authentic taste, breathtaking views, and an ambiance packed with aloha spirit, Duke’s Kauai is a must-visit culinary gem.

We were assigned to seat with unblocking ocean view. Seeing the water while dining is super relaxing. We even saw a cruise passing by in the sunset. The ribs are very well seasoned and delicious. The signature hula pie is even more amazing - it is so sweat that it makes me forget about all the flies that try to steal our food. Overall very good experience and would come again.

We came for Sunday brunch. The food was amazing. My husband raved about the fish especially. The fried rice was delicious, more of a "dry" fried rice rather than sticky, which is my preference. The eggs benedict was really good, I was surprised that the yolks were still runny despite being a buffet setting. The waitress was very attentive, which again, I didn't expect for a buffet. My water glass was never empty, and I go through water quickly. There was also live music, which was really lovely. And they have a complimentary valet. We had reservations, but I don't think they were necessary. Probably during the summer months it would be.

This place had a large number of reviews and was highly rated and we understand why. The service is great (free valet included), food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced, and the view is incredible! Having delicious food while staring out at a blue water bay was amazing!

Beautiful Atmosphere inside and outside, both downstairs and upstairs. Lots of tables overlooking the ocean, seeing the surfers in the daytime. The staff are wonderful and the food is delicious. Our server Keenan was an AMAZING EXCELLENT Server. He was on point with everything. Very attentive. The Prime Rib was wonderful. Every dish my party had was wonderful. Coconut shrimp was cooked to perfection and everything was served hot. The Hula pie is enough to share. The Live Music was enjoyable. The specialty drinks were good as well, but should have had more liquor in it.

Visited on a Monday afternoon with 8 guests and waited about 25 minutes for a table. Nearby beach was also busy. Pretty outdoor atmosphere/seating. End of September, so quite humid and a little hot. Ordered the Ribs/Chicken Plate with Mac Salad and Rice - very tasty. Prices as to be expected for area. Service was friendly and attentive. We were seated by the live music, and the speaker was quite loud - we could hardly hear one another while it was playing. Other than that and the chicken flying onto our table, we'd recommend.

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon dinner and they took great care of us. The Lobster Tails and Filet Mignon were phenomenal. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation in advance - it can be tough to get in. We will be coming to Dukes anytime we’re in Kauai.

Could never imagine how hard it was going to be to find a nice restaurant to be willing to serve our group of 8. After being turned away by several restaurants Duke’s Kauai not only came to the rescue but was amazing!! They have an incredible atmosphere and great views of the bay. They went up above for my nieces 15 birthday dinner and surprised her with a birthday card in the table and dessert. Bekah provided wonderful customer service, all the staff was amazing! I ordered the filet mignon it came with creamed corn and mashed potatoes and it was delicious! I ordered my filet mignon well done and it wasn’t dry but flavorful as well as the sides. Thanks to Dukes Kauai staff for providing a great birthday dinner for my niece and family after being turned and let down by several other restaurants. Would definitely recommend for a wonderful meal and service
